Calling All Parrot Heads!!!!!!
Put On Your Walking Shoes and Help Us Stomp Out Breast Cancer!!!!!

We're calling all Parrot Heads to come out and walk with us as "Team Parrot Head" to help raise money for a local Key West organization. The Zonta Club of Key West will be having their annual "ABC 5K Run/Walk" on Saturday, November 7th, 2009. This organization raises money to cover mammogram's, thin-prep pap tests, other diagnostic test and preventive measures for uninsured and underinsured women. Monroe County has some of the highest incidence of breast cancer, because of so many workers living there who have no healthcare. To find out more about Zonta Key West, please visit http://www.zontakeywest.com .

Saturday, November 7th, the run/walk will begin and end at Salute Restaurant, 1000 Atlantic Blvd., just around the corner from the Casa Marina tennis courts. Registration begins at 7:00 AM. The event starts at 8:00 AM and the course is only 3 short miles.

For everyone's entertainment, we will have live music to begin playing at 8:30 am and will continue until we all cross the finish line. What a great way to show our support on the last big day of MOTM. Yes, it will mean getting up a wee bit early, but being the Parrot Heads we all are...that surely will not stop us from "Walking For A Purpose."

Pre-registration fee is $20.00. On Site Registration is $25.00. Want to Pre-Register?

Our theme this year for Team Parrot Head is:

"Sittin' on g Waitin' on o"

We hope you are thinking ... I know "exactly where I want to go" because you have already decided to be part of "Team Parrot Head".
Once you "g" "o" to the online registration http://phip.com/MOTM_Zonta.asp and have registered there will be a "standing ovation" and a request for you to "take a bow"

The link to the online registration http://phip.com/MOTM_Zonta.asp .
More details about the Zonta Walk is available at the this link too.

If you are a "walk/run" participant.... Then start planning a strategy to raise some monies to be added to our overall "Team Parrot Head" total. If each walker would raise a little money then we will contribute a sizeable amount as "Team Parrot Head." If you are not planning to walk or not attending MOTM this year... then find someone in your club that is planning to attend MOTM and encourage them to "walk" ..then support them by helping them raise maybe an amount of 50.00(or whatever amount you determine).

One idea is to have one 50/50 and designate it to your "walker" from your club. If not a 50/50 ...then just pass the hat and collect monies that way at one of your happy hours/phlocking.

As you can see even as a  non-walker/runner participant you can be an important part of our success too. "Indecision may or may not be my problem" is not the answer I hope you will take regarding this year's "Team Parrot Head" ..as we hope you will show your continue support of this wonderful worthwhile cause/charity at MOTM 2009.

In addition to the prizes awarded by Zonta after the walk, there will be a prize for the Parrot Head Club that donates the most money to the event and a prize for the Individual that donates the most money to the event.

Watch for announcements of exciting UPdates for this year's "Team Parrot Head".

Cancer has touched us all in one way or another within our families or friends. Please help us show the residents of Key West that we care.

If you have any other questions please contact me at
jsrclearwater@aol.com We hope to see you at the starting line on Saturday, November 7th, 2009.
